Volunteer Training events 2016

On 28th September, we have organised a special day for all our volunteers. It will be held at Cheshire View, Plough Lane, Christleton, and will include information, workshops and of course lunch. We hope that as many as possible of our volunteers will be able to attend and that we will all learn a lot whilst also having fun.

Later in the year we also aim to hold first aid training events for all our volunteers who need to renew their first aid training or would like to learn new skills, and we are looking into providing a programme of training based on the needs of our volunteers.

We Celebrated the Queen’s 90th Birthday

Along with the rest of the country this summer, all our OPAL Clubs celebrated the Queens 90th birthday. For example …..

Tarporley OPAL Club had lunch out at the Stamford Bridge pub and toasted the Queen – in her absence!

Helsby Club members tested their memories with a “Royal and Famous” reminiscence box and quizzes, followed by afternoon tea in Helsby with a slide show “Helsby Now and Then” covering the last 90 years.

The Beeches pre-school hosted the Malpas Club members who then went on to enjoy a buffet lunch at Craddock Court.

Kelsall Opal Club 25 Years Celebration

The Kelsall Day Centre as it was known then was set up 25 years ago by Age Concern Chester. When Age Concern decided to close the day centre in 2010 it was then taken over by Rural Community Services who renamed it the Kelsall OPAL Club, and it has been going strong since.

This event called for a party, of course, which was held on May 18th. Over 30 people attended, there was a raffle and a brilliant cake.
